Sunday 28th February 2010 The result truly indicates truly how play occurred during the match. Floriana went out on the attack from the first minute and indeed could have also had a shot at goal with a score. Floriana continued on the attack with Naxxar only trying to effect some counter attacks. The goal came in the 10th minute when an attack from our centre saw Dalli shoot strong and straight past the goalkeeper. Floriana continued on the attack and ten minutes later made it 2-0 when from a foul gained by Ryan and taken by Sacha, the ball bounced off the goalkeeper’s chest and Ryan pounced on the ball and make it 2-0. Floriana had some slight moments of difficulty with the Naxxar counter attacks, and some awkward back passing. In the second half Floriana once again went out on the attack and a shot by Sacha hit the upright. Floriana made it 3-0 when a precision lob passed by Dalli to the centre saw Luca trap the ball, and shoot in the centre of the goalpost making it 3-0. Floriana introduced Joshua, Etienne and Chas and continued on the attack making it 4-0 in the final minute of the game when from a corner kick our defender Kurt prodded the ball into the net. Floriana played good football and were generally superior to the opponents both at an individual and team level. Arguably this was the squad’s best performance this season. We augur that this style of football can be repeated in the remaining games.
