YFA League Minors – U-19
Floriana 1             Sliema 1

This was a tough match and the squad achieved what they set out to do.

Sliema went out on the attack and had one or two chances throughout this half but it was Floriana who went ahead when from a well passed ball from the right flank Karl came face to face with the goalkeeper and shot low making it 1-0.   Sliema retaliated and attacked and after various attempts a well passed ball saw their right wing come face to face with our goalkeeper in the penalty area and beat him making it 1-1.   Sliema continued on the attack  but the Floriana defence held well.

In the second half with the wind (and now the rain) against the Floriana team, Sliema continued with their attacks with Floriana having good counter attacks, and indeed from a corner a good chance at goal.

This was  a match fought out throughout, both in time and in space, with personal tussles and with determination.    Floriana achieved a well merited point and stopped Sliema from winning three.
